The Sun Hydraulics DMDAXRN736 (DMDAXRN736) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for direct-acting, balanced spool directional control in hydraulic systems. This model is particularly noted for its robust construction, featuring a solenoid tube assembly that is fatigue rated for service up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve offers precise control with closed transitions between Spools B and R, enhancing performance by ensuring faster and more consistent response times during operation. This valve operates effectively without minimum hydraulic pressure, making it suitable for a wide range of applications where variable pressure conditions exist. It incorporates a wet armature design, where the working fluid surrounds the armature to manage the heat generated by the coil. However, this design consideration means that prolonged energization of the coil should be managed carefully to prevent fluid degradation. The manual override feature in models equipped with D or L control uses a detent mechanism designed primarily for temporary actuation, with an expected mechanical life of around 7,000 cycles. For environments using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended; these seals are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids. Additionally, the DMDAXRN736 supports interchangeable coils from other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction for enhanced installation flexibility. The valve also features Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This model has a typical response time of 50 ms and can handle up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) capacity at maximum operating pressures of 5000 psi (350 bar), making it an effective solution for demanding directional control applications in hydraulic systems.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
