The Sun Hydraulics DMDAXRV724N (DMDAXRV724N) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for robust hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is engineered to operate without minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its versatility in various applications. With a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), the DMDAXRV724N is well-suited for demanding environments where precision and reliability are crucial. The valve features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly for extended service life under high-pressure conditions. Its spools B and R remain closed during transitions between positions, which not only limits capacity but also allows for faster and more consistent response times, particularly beneficial in pilot control applications. The model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal parts binding, which can occur due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model also includes an innovative wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature, aiding in heat management but requiring careful selection of fluids to prevent breakdowns. The valve's manual override mechanism is designed for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. For compatibility with different system fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are specifically made for phosphate ester fluids; however, these should not be used with petroleum-based fluids to avoid damaging the seals. Additionally, the interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products offer flexibility in maintenance and replacement processes. This model\u2019s quick response time (typical 50 ms), combined with a maximum leakage at 3000 psi of only 5 in\u00b3/min., makes it an efficient choice for systems requiring precise control and minimal fluid loss.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
