The Sun Hydraulics DNCADLN728 (DNCADLN728) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated directional valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. This 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve features a direct-acting, balanced spool with a closed transition between positions, minimizing oil loss during shifting\u2014critical for maintaining efficiency in pilot control circuits. With a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min and capable of handling maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi/350 bar, the DNCADLN728 is robust and versatile for various applications. This valve is particularly advantageous due to its direct actuation which operates without any minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its responsiveness and reliability in different system conditions. The solenoid tube assembly of the valve is fatigue rated for high-pressure service, ensuring long-term durability even under strenuous conditions. Additionally, the DNCADLN728 incorporates EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. The wet armature design of the DNCADLN728 allows the working fluid to surround the armature which can be beneficial or detrimental depending on the duration the coil is energized and the type of fluid used. Long-term exposure to heat can lead to breakdowns in certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures. For customization and flexibility in installation, this model offers a variety of coil termination and voltage options including configurations with surge protection. Its coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The valve also features high-efficiency solenoid design that maximizes spool actuating force per Watt expended. In terms of construction, Sun Hydraulics employs a floating style that minimizes internal parts binding due to variations in installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining, enhancing operational reliability and ease of maintenance. The DNCADLN728 also supports environmental adaptability with additional weatherized coils and kits available for enhanced protection against harsh conditions.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
