The Sun Hydraulics DNCADLN948 (DNCADLN948) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for use in hydraulic systems. With a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve mechanism, it ensures precise control with a closed transition between positions to minimize oil loss during shifting. This feature is especially beneficial in pilot control circuits where maintaining fluid integrity is crucial. The DNCADLN948 operates efficiently with port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank, although it allows reverse flow under specific conditions. Engineered for robust performance, the solenoid tube assembly of this model is fatigue-rated for up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliability under high-pressure operations. The valve does not require a minimum hydraulic pressure to function and is directly actuated for enhanced responsiveness. This model incorporates a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature. This setup can influence fluid temperature during prolonged energization of the coil, potentially affecting fluid properties over time. To accommodate various system requirements, the DNCADLN948 offers multiple coil termination and voltage options, including models with surge protection. For environments demanding higher durability against elements, weatherized coils and kits are available to provide additional protection. The innovative magnetic design of the solenoid yields high efficiency and spool actuating force per watt expended, leading to reliable valve operation even under demanding conditions. Furthermore, this model benefits from Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With its range of features and configurations, the DNCADLN948 provides a versatile solution for dynamic hydraulic system applications requiring precise directional control and reliability.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
