The Sun Hydraulics DNCADSN828 (DNCADSN828) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve that features a direct-acting, balanced spool with closed transition between positions. This design significantly minimizes oil loss during shifting, which is especially beneficial in pilot control circuits. The valve is configured to use port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank outlet, although it allows for reverse flow; optimal performance in this mode is not assured. This model boasts a robust solenoid tube assembly rated for fatigue at 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliable operation under high-pressure conditions. It operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, enhancing its versatility across various applications. The DNCADSN828 employs EPDM seals specifically designed for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based substances. The valve's wet armature design implies that the working fluid envelops the armature which may be subject to heating if the coil remains energized for extended periods. This could lead to breakdown of certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures at elevated temperatures. For customization and adaptability, the valve offers a range of coil termination and voltage options including models with surge protection. Sun Hydraulics has also engineered this model to incorporate their floating style construction which helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Additionally, it features interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and supports various coil connector options rated up to IP69K for enhanced environmental protection. Overall, the DNCADSN828 provides robust performance and reliability suitable for demanding hydraulic applications where precise fluid control and durability are paramount.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
