The Sun Hydraulics DNCADWN236 (DNCADWN236) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated directional valve designed for precise control in hydraulic systems. This 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve features a direct-acting, balanced spool with a closed transition between positions, minimizing oil loss during shifting\u2014a critical feature for pilot control circuits. With a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min and the ability to handle maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi/350 bar, the DNCADWN236 is robust and versatile. The valve's solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for demanding applications, ensuring reliability under continuous high-pressure conditions. It operates without a minimum hydraulic pressure requirement, enhancing its effectiveness in various operational scenarios. The DNCADWN236 incorporates EPDM seals specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based substances. Featuring a wet armature design, the DNCADWN236 allows the working fluid to surround the armature, which can heat up during prolonged coil energization. This design consideration is crucial when using certain fluids that may degrade under heat. The valve offers multiple coil termination and voltage options, including configurations with surge protection to suit diverse operational needs and environments. Sun Hydraulics has engineered this model with interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and a variety of environmental protection options. This flexibility makes it suitable for different setups without requiring extensive modifications. Additionally, the floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations, further enhancing its operational reliability and lifespan.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
