The Sun Hydraulics DNCADWV914 (DNCADWV914) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated directional cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic fluid control in various applications. This 4-way, 2-position direct-acting valve features a balanced spool with closed transitions between positions, minimizing oil loss during shifting which is crucial in maintaining efficiency in pilot control circuits. The valve operates effectively with a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi/350 bar. The DNCADWV914 is engineered to be versatile with its capability for reverse flow, although optimal performance under this condition isn't guaranteed. It boasts a rapid response time of approximately 50 ms and maintains robust performance with a switching frequency of up to 15,000 cycles per hour. The solenoid tube assembly of the valve is fatigue rated for high-pressure service, enhancing its durability and reliability in demanding environments. This model also features an innovative wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature. This setup needs consideration as prolonged energization can lead to fluid degradation at high temperatures, potentially affecting performance. To accommodate different system requirements, the DNCADWV914 offers various coil termination and voltage options including models with surge protection and environmental resistance up to IP69K standards. For ease of installation and maintenance, the valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction which helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. The interchangeability of coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products adds to its flexibility and utility across different setups. This model also supports manual override capabilities, essential for system checks and troubleshooting. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics DNCADWV914 is designed for those needing a reliable and efficient solution for directing flow in hydraulic systems across numerous applications.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
