The Sun Hydraulics DNCALAV212N (DNCALAV212N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. The valve features a direct-acting, balanced spool with closed transition between positions, minimizing oil loss during shifting\u2014a critical factor in pilot control circuits. It is engineered to handle a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi/350 bar. This valve is notable for its direct actuation which does not require minimum hydraulic pressure to operate. The DNCALAV212N is equipped with EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based substances should be avoided as it can damage the seals. The design incorporates a wet armature setup where the working fluid surrounds the armature; this could lead to fluid breakdown if the coil remains energized for extended periods, especially with water-glycol mixtures. This model offers flexibility in terms of coil termination and voltage options, including configurations with or without surge protection. Its coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. For enhanced durability and environmental protection, various weatherized coils and kits are also available. Additional features include an IP69K rating possibility for coil connectors depending on the specific configuration chosen, ensuring high resistance to dust and water ingress under severe conditions. The unique magnetic design of the solenoid ensures efficient operation by generating high spool actuating force per Watt expended, which facilitates reliable valve shifting. Sun Hydraulics' DNCALAV212N also benefits from a floating style construction that reduces risks associated with internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This robust construction along with its advanced technical specifications make it an ideal choice for demanding hydraulic applications requiring precise flow control and reliability.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
