The Sun Hydraulics DNCALAV524 (DNCALAV524) is a high-performance solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. The valve features a direct-acting, balanced spool with closed transition between positions, which significantly minimizes oil loss during shifting. This attribute is particularly beneficial in pilot control circuits where maintaining hydraulic integrity is crucial. With a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi/350 bar, the DNCALAV524 is engineered to handle demanding applications. It operates effectively without any minimum hydraulic pressure requirement, thanks to its direct actuation design. The valve's solenoid tube assembly is fatigue-rated for high-pressure service up to 5000 psi/350 bar, ensuring durability and long service life. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction that prevents internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. It also features interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and offers flexibility with multiple coil termination and voltage options, some of which include surge protection. The DNCALAV524 uses EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. Special attention should be given to the wet armature design of the valve; while it allows the working fluid to surround the armature and absorb heat from the coil, prolonged energization may degrade certain types of hydraulic fluids. This model responds typically within 50 ms and supports a switching frequency of up to 15000 cycles per hour. Its manual override features require minimal force, enhancing ease of operation under varied pressure conditions. The robust design coupled with advanced sealing and a wide range of configuration options make the DNCALAV524 an optimal choice for sophisticated hydraulic systems requiring reliable directional control.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
