The Sun Hydraulics DNCALAV712 (DNCALAV712) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a closed transition between positions, significantly minimizing oil loss during shifting\u2014a crucial feature for maintaining efficiency in pilot control circuits. It is engineered to handle a maximum flow capacity of 8 gpm (30 L/min) with port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank outlet. While reverse flow is possible through this configuration, optimal performance in this mode is not assured. This model boasts a robust solenoid tube assembly that is fatigue rated for operations at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliability under demanding conditions. The DNCALAV712 operates effectively without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, offering versatility across various applications. It incorporates EPDM seals specifically designed for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage when exposed to petroleum-based fluids. The valve's wet armature design allows the working fluid to surround the armature which can be subjected to heat when the coil is energized continuously. This factor needs consideration as certain fluids may degrade under prolonged exposure to heat. The DNCALAV712 offers an array of coil termination and voltage options, including models with surge protection and weatherized coils for enhanced environmental resilience. Sun Hydraulics has integrated its floating style construction into this model to reduce risks associated with internal parts binding due to installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. With interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and IP69K rated connector options, this valve ensures flexible installation and durable performance in diverse operating environments.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
