The Sun Hydraulics DNCALAV812N (DNCALAV812N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for versatile hydraulic fluid direction within a system. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve ensures minimal oil loss during position transitions due to its closed transition design, which is particularly beneficial in pilot control circuits where maintaining fluid integrity is crucial. With a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min and an operating pressure up to 5000 psi/350 bar, the DNCALAV812N is capable of handling significant hydraulic demands. It features a solenoid tube assembly that is fatigue rated for robust performance even under high-pressure conditions. The valve operates efficiently without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. This model incorporates EPDM seals configured specifically for use with phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. The wet armature design of the valve allows the working fluid to surround the armature which can be heated by the coil if energized for extended periods. This needs consideration as certain fluids may degrade under prolonged exposure to heat. The DNCALAV812N offers flexibility in terms of coil termination and voltage options, including configurations with or without surge protection. Its coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Connector options for these coils can meet environmental protection ratings up to IP69K. Additionally, this model benefits from Sun\u2019s floating style construction which minimizes internal parts binding that could otherwise occur due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This feature enhances the reliability and longevity of the valve in demanding operational conditions.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
