The Sun Hydraulics DNCALAV824 (DNCALAV824) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve is designed with a closed transition between positions to minimize oil loss during shifting, making it particularly valuable in pilot control circuits. The valve features a unique configuration where port 3 serves as the inlet and port 1 as the tank outlet. It boasts a robust design that requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation and is fatigue rated for up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliable performance under demanding conditions. The DNCALAV824 utilizes EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids, although exposure to petroleum-based fluids should be avoided as it can damage the seals. The wet armature design of the valve allows the working fluid to surround the armature which helps in heat dissipation but can cause fluid breakdown if the coil remains energized for prolonged periods. This model offers a variety of coil termination and voltage options, including designs with surge protection and weatherized kits for enhanced environmental resilience. With its high efficiency magnetic design, this Sun Hydraulics valve ensures optimal performance by providing strong spool actuating force per watt expended. The coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Additional features include an IP69K rating for some coil connector options and a floating style construction that reduces internal part binding due to installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model also supports a maximum flow capacity of 8 gpm (30 L/min) and has rapid response times typically around 50 ms. It's designed to handle switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles per hour while maintaining low leakage rates even under high pressure. The manual override feature requires minimal force, enhancing usability in various operational settings.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
