The Sun Hydraulics DNCALBN848 (DNCALBN848) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a closed transition between positions, which minimizes the loss of oil during shifting\u2014a critical feature for maintaining efficiency in pilot control circuits. With port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank, the valve supports a flow capacity of 8 gpm (30 L/min) and can handle a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Designed for robust operation, the DNCALBN848's solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for high-pressure service. It does not require minimum hydraulic pressure for operation, making it versatile across various applications. The valve employs EPDM seals when configured for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. The DNCALBN848 incorporates a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature. This design consideration is crucial when the coil is energized over extended periods since some fluids may degrade under sustained heat exposure. The product also boasts a variety of coil termination and voltage options that enhance its adaptability and performance in different environments. Sun Hydraulics has equipped this model with interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products, adding to its flexibility in use and maintenance. The valve's innovative magnetic design enhances efficiency by maximizing spool actuating force per watt expended, ensuring reliable shifting even under demanding conditions. Additionally, this model benefits from Sun\u2019s floating style construction which reduces risks associated with internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. With features like an IP69K rating option for coil connectors and additional weatherized coils available for enhanced environmental protection, the DNCALBN848 is engineered to meet stringent operational demands reliably.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
