The Sun Hydraulics DNCALCV612 (DNCALCV612) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for use in various hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a closed transition between positions, which significantly reduces the loss of oil during shifting. This characteristic is particularly beneficial in pilot control circuits where maintaining hydraulic integrity is crucial. The DNCALCV612 valve boasts a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min with port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. While reverse flow is possible through this configuration, optimal performance in this mode is not assured and generally not recommended. The robust design includes a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliable operation under demanding conditions. This model requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation and incorporates EPDM seals specifically for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based substances. The wet armature design utilized by this valve allows the working fluid to surround the armature, potentially affecting performance if the coil remains energized over extended periods due to heat exposure. Sun Hydraulics has equipped the DNCALCV612 with various coil termination and voltage options, some with surge protection. Its magnetic design enhances solenoid efficiency, providing high spool actuating force per watt expended which ensures consistent and reliable valve shifting. Furthermore, coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Additional features include IP69K-rated coil connector options for enhanced environmental protection and Sun's floating style construction that minimizes internal parts binding due to installation or machining discrepancies. This model also supports a manual override function requiring minimal force, making it versatile for emergency or maintenance operations.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
