The Sun Hydraulics DNCALCV848 (DNCALCV848) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve that features a direct-acting, balanced spool design for efficient control in hydraulic systems. With a closed transition between positions, the DNCALCV848 minimally impacts hydraulic fluid loss during position shifts, making it especially suitable for pilot control circuits where maintaining fluid integrity is critical. This valve boasts a robust construction with a fatigue rating of 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliable operation under high-pressure conditions. The direct actuation mechanism of the DNCALCV848 does not require minimum hydraulic pressure to operate, enhancing its versatility across various applications. It is designed to handle a flow capacity up to 8 gpm (30 L/min) with maximum operating pressures reaching up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The DNCALCV848's solenoid tube assembly incorporates an innovative magnetic design which optimizes efficiency and maximizes spool actuating force per watt expended. This feature contributes to dependable and consistent valve shifting even under demanding conditions. Furthermore, the valve\u2019s wet armature design allows the working fluid to surround the armature, although prolonged energization should be monitored due to potential heat effects on certain fluids. For enhanced compatibility and customization, this model offers a variety of coil termination and voltage options, including models with surge protection. The coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be installed in either orientation on the tube. Additionally, various environmental protection options such as weatherized coils and kits are available to suit different operational environments. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to installation or machining discrepancies, promoting longer service life and reliability. This model uses EPDM seals when configured for phosphate ester fluids but is incompatible with petroleum-based fluids which could damage the seals. With its diverse configuration options and robust design, the DNCALCV848 serves as an essential component for efficient directional control in hydraulic systems.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.
- Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
- A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
- The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
- Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
