The Sun Hydraulics DNCAMSV524 (DNCAMSV524) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for direct-acting, balanced spool directional control. This valve features a closed transition between positions, minimizing oil loss during shifting, which is particularly beneficial in pilot control circuits. It operates with port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank, although reverse flow is possible but not recommended for optimal performance. The solenoid tube assembly of this valve is fatigue-rated for service pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and reliability in demanding applications. This cartridge valve does not require minimum hydraulic pressure for operation due to its direct-actuated design. It utilizes EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The wet armature design allows the working fluid to surround the armature, which can be a consideration if the coil remains energized for extended periods. Certain fluids may degrade under such conditions and affect functionality. The DNCAMSV524 offers various coil termination and voltage options, including configurations with surge protection. Its high-efficiency solenoid design provides substantial spool actuating force per watt consumed, ensuring reliable valve shifting. Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and feature IP69K-rated connector options for enhanced environmental protection. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to installation torque or cavity machining variations. This model has a capacity of 8 gpm (30 L/min), a typical response time of 50 ms, and supports a switching frequency of up to 15,000 cycles per hour. The manual override requires minimal force with a stroke of .10 inches (2.5 mm). The DNCAMSV524 comes with Viton seal kits available for both cartridge and coil components to ensure proper maintenance and longevity.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
