The Sun Hydraulics DNCATAN72419 (DNCATAN72419) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for direct-acting, balanced spool directional control. This valve's closed transition feature significantly minimizes oil loss during shifting, making it particularly suitable for pilot control circuits. It is optimized for use with port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank; while reverse flow is possible, it is not recommended due to performance variability. The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue-rated for high-pressure applications up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and reliability in demanding environments. This valve operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure and features a wet armature design that allows the working fluid to cool the armature. However, prolonged coil energization may lead to fluid breakdown in some mixtures like water-glycol. The valve offers various coil termination and voltage options with or without surge protection, allowing customization based on specific needs. Its high-efficiency solenoid provides strong spool actuating force per watt, ensuring reliable operation. The DNCATAN72419 incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal binding from installation torque or machining variations. It supports a flow capacity of 8 gpm (30 L/min) and has a typical response time of 50 ms with maximum leakage at specified conditions being minimal. The valve can withstand up to 15,000 cycles per hour and features interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun Series 1 products. Coil connectors are available with IP69K ratings for enhanced environmental protection. With dimensions including a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and an installation torque requirement between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), this robust valve weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg). Seal kits are available in Viton material for both cartridge and coil components.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
