The Sun Hydraulics DNCATJN936 (DNCATJN936) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for efficient and reliable directional control in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve features a closed transition between positions, minimizing oil loss during shifting\u2014a critical attribute for pilot control circuits. The valve is optimized for operation with port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank; while reverse flow is possible, it does not guarantee the same performance and is not recommended. Engineered to handle up to 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve does not require minimum hydraulic pressure for activation due to its direct actuation design. Featuring EPDM seals, it is suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based fluids to prevent seal damage. The wet armature design allows working fluid exposure to coil-generated heat; hence, care should be taken with water-glycol mixtures that may degrade over time. With a high-efficiency solenoid yielding significant spool actuating force per Watt, the valve ensures reliable shifting. The DNCATJN936 supports various coil termination and voltage options, with interchangeability among Sun Series 1 solenoids and compatibility with IP69K-rated connectors for enhanced environmental protection. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding risks from excessive torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a capacity of 8 gpm (30 L/min), response time of approximately 50 ms, maximum leakage of 10 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (160 cc/min at 210 bar), and switching frequency up to 15000 cycles/hr. The manual override requires a force of about 5 lbs at 1000 psi (33 N at 100 bar) with a stroke of .10 inches (2.5 mm). The cartridge weighs .60 lb (.30 kg) and features Viton seal kits available for both cartridge and coil assemblies.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
