The Sun Hydraulics DNDAMXE924N (DNDAMXE924N) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve that features a direct-acting, balanced spool design. This versatile directional valve is engineered for high-performance applications with a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's direct actuation eliminates the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, allowing it to function efficiently across various settings. A notable feature is its multiple manual override options, although these are not compatible with weatherized coils. For models with D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override provides temporary actuation with an estimated mechanical life of approximately 7,000 cycles. The cartridge is designed for systems using phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. Its wet armature design ensures that the working fluid surrounds and cools the armature while being exposed to coil-generated heat. However, fluids like water-glycol mixtures may degrade over time at elevated temperatures. The valve offers numerous coil termination and voltage options, including surge protection capabilities. Its high-efficiency solenoid design delivers significant spool actuating force per watt consumed, ensuring reliable performance. Compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products, the coils can be mounted in either direction and come with connector options rated up to IP69K for enhanced environmental protection. The valve's floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min), it boasts a typical response time of 50 ms and supports a maximum switching frequency of 15,000 cycles per hour. Installation requires a torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), and its compact design weighs just .60 lb (0.30 kg).

This solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See the CONFIGURATION section. Please note: Manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
