The Sun Hydraulics DNDATNN214 (DNDATNN214) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge that functions as a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. Designed for high performance, this valve features a solenoid tube assembly that is fatigue-rated for service up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure and offers several manual override options; however, manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils. For models with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is intended for temporary use and has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. This valve uses EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can damage the seals. The wet armature design allows working fluid to surround and cool the armature but may cause fluid breakdown in certain mixtures if energized for extended periods. The DNDATNN214 offers various coil termination and voltage options, some with surge protection capabilities. Its magnetic design ensures high efficiency by providing substantial spool actuating force per Watt expended. The cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It fits cavity T31A and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Typical response time is around 50 ms, with a maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) of 10 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (160 cc/min at 210 bar). The switching frequency can reach up to 15,000 cycles per hour. Manual override requires about 5 lbs force per 1000 psi at Port 1 (33 N/100 bar) with a stroke of .10 inches (2.5 mm). The solenoid tube diameter measures .75 inches (19 mm), while the valve hex size is .78 inches (22.2 mm), requiring an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg), and Viton seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil components.

This solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See the CONFIGURATION section. Please note: Manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
