The Sun Hydraulics DNDAXSN624N (DNDAXSN624N) is a solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for direct-acting, balanced spool directional control. This valve is built with a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring reliable performance in high-pressure applications. It operates independently of hydraulic pressure, making it versatile for various systems. The design includes multiple manual override options, although models with weatherized coils are not compatible with this feature. For models featuring the D or L control, the manual override's detent mechanism supports temporary actuation, lasting approximately 7,000 cycles. This cartridge valve uses EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based fluids to prevent seal damage. Its wet armature design allows working fluid to surround the armature and manage heat from the coil; however, prolonged coil energization can degrade certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures over time. The solenoid's magnetic design enhances efficiency by providing high spool actuating force per watt of power used. The valve features interchangeable coils within Sun Series 1 products and offers various coil termination and voltage options with optional surge protection. Coil connector options provide protection ratings up to IP69K for increased environmental resilience. The floating style construction minimizes internal component binding risks due to excessive torque or machining variations. In terms of specifications, the valve fits into cavity T-31A and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). It has a typical response time of 50 ms and maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) of 10 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (160 cc/min at 210 bar). It can endure switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles/hr and requires a manual override force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi (33 N/100 bar) at Port 1. The valve weighs around .60 lb (.30 kg) and includes Viton seal kits for both cartridge and coil components.

This solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See the CONFIGURATION section. Please note: Manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
