The Sun Hydraulics DNDAXSN928 (DNDAXSN928) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for direct-acting, balanced spool directional control. It is engineered with a solenoid tube assembly that is fatigue-rated for service up to 5000 psi (350 bar). This valve operates without requiring minimum hydraulic pressure and offers several manual override options. However, manual overrides are incompatible with weatherized coils. The D and L control models feature a detent mechanism suitable for temporary actuation, boasting a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. EPDM seals are available for systems using phosphate ester fluids but are vulnerable to petroleum-based fluids. The valve utilizes a wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature, potentially affecting performance if exposed to high coil temperatures over extended periods. Various coil termination and voltage options are offered, some with surge protection. The high-efficiency solenoid design provides robust spool actuation force per watt, ensuring reliable operation. Coils can be interchanged with other Sun Series 1 products and installed in either direction on the tube. Coil connectors can achieve ratings up to IP69K for enhanced environmental protection. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations in cavity or cartridge manufacturing. It fits into T31A cavities and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). Maximum operating pressure reaches 5000 psi (350 bar), with typical response times around 50 ms and leakage rates at maximum conditions of 10 in\u00b3/min (160 cc/min) at 3000 psi (210 bar). The valve supports switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles/hr and requires a manual override force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi at Port 1.

This solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See the CONFIGURATION section. Please note: Manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
