The Sun Hydraulics DNDAXUV214 (DNDAXUV214) is a solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for efficient directional control in hydraulic systems. This direct-acting, balanced spool valve operates without the need for minimum hydraulic pressure, making it versatile for various applications. It features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly capable of handling up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability under high-pressure conditions. The valve offers multiple manual override options, although these are not compatible with weatherized coils. For models with the D or L control, the detent mechanism is intended for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of around 7,000 cycles. The cartridge is suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. Utilizing a wet armature design, the working fluid surrounds the armature and dissipates heat generated by the coil, though prolonged coil energization may affect certain fluids like water-glycol mixtures due to varnish formation. The DNDAXUV214 offers various coil termination and voltage options, some including surge protection, and supports interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products. Coil connector options provide ratings up to IP69K for enhanced environmental protection. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks from excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min) and a typical response time of 50 ms, this valve can handle switching frequencies up to 15,000 cycles per hour. It requires a manual override force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi at Port 1 and features a stroke length of .10 inches (2.5 mm). The compact design includes specifications like a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm), valve hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm), and installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm).

This solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See the CONFIGURATION section. Please note: Manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
