The Sun Hydraulics DNDAXYN748 (DNDAXYN748) is a solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for direct-acting, balanced spool directional control. It is engineered to handle up to 5000 psi (350 bar) service pressure without requiring minimum hydraulic pressure for operation. The valve features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly and offers several manual override options, although these are not compatible with weatherized coils. The D, L, and T manual control assemblies are designed for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. This cartridge is suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The valve employs a wet armature design that allows the working fluid to surround the armature, making it susceptible to heat from the coil during prolonged energization. Fluids like water-glycol mixtures may deteriorate over time due to this heat exposure. The solenoid's magnetic design ensures high efficiency by providing substantial spool actuating force per Watt used, which enhances reliable valve shifting. It is compatible with Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be installed in either direction on the tube. Additional specifications include a cavity type of T-31A, a series designation of 1, and a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). It has a typical response time of 50 ms and maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) of 10 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (160 cc/min at 210 bar). The switching frequency is rated at up to 15,000 cycles per hour. For installation purposes, the valve requires torque between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm) and has a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm). The model weighs .60 lb (.30 kg), making it compact yet robust for various hydraulic applications.

This solenoid-operated 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See the CONFIGURATION section. Please note: Manual override functionality is not compatible with weatherized coils.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
