The Sun Hydraulics DNDCXCN848 (DNDCXCN848) is a direct acting, solenoid-operated, 4-way, 3-position spool valve that is spring centered to the neutral position. This valve is designed for high-efficiency operation with its unique magnetic solenoid design that provides high spool actuating force per watt expended. It can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 5 gpm (20 L/min). The valve features a wet armature design, where the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to heat generated by the coil. This aspect needs consideration as certain fluids may break down at elevated temperatures if the coil remains energized for extended periods. When coil A is energized, flow is directed from port 3 P to port 2 A and from port 4 B to port 1 T. Conversely, energizing coil B routes flow from port 3 to port 4 and from port 2 to port 1. The valve does not require minimum hydraulic pressure for operation, making it versatile in various applications. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This model offers multiple coil termination and voltage options, including surge protection capabilities. Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. For enhanced environmental protection, weatherized coils and kits are available with ratings up to IP69K. The DNDCXCN848 also uses EPDM seals suitable for systems with phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals.
