The Sun Hydraulics DPBAOBV (DPBAOBV) is a normally open, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This versatile component can function independently or in conjunction with larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. It operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses the pre-set threshold. Notably, pressure at port 3 directly adds to the valve's setting, which may limit its use as a work port in certain circuits; a four-port version could be an alternative if this presents an issue. The DPBAOBV is not bistable and can modulate between two positions as required. This valve fits into T-11A cavities and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 7 gallons per minute (28 liters per minute). Factory pressure settings are established at a flow rate of 4 gallons per minute (15 liters per minute), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 inches per minute (0.11 to 0.16 liters per minute), while maximum valve leakage is limited to 1 inch per minute at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). The adjustment requires up to five clockwise turns to increase the setting, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments. The DPBAOBV incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing risks of internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This robust design ensures reliable performance in various hydraulic applications where moderate flow control is necessary.

Normally open, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
- Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
- This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
- Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar). This is due to fatigue strength limits not hydraulic operating limits.
- When pilot pressure exceeds the valve setting, pilot flow may be a consideration. See performance curves for pilot consumption vs. load pressure above the valve setting. If this is a problem, the direct acting version of this valve would be a solution.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
