The Sun Hydraulics DPBBCBN (Material Number: DPBBCBN) is a normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This valve is versatile in its applications, capable of being used independently or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. It operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses the preset threshold, with pressure at port 3 directly adding to the valve setting. Notably, this model is not bistable and can modulate between two positions based on pilot pressure exceeding the valve setting. The DPBBCBN features Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks from excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a cavity size of T-11A and a Series 1 classification, this valve has a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and can handle a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Its control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 in³/min (0.11 to 0.16 L/min), while maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 1 in³/min under a pressure of 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). The valve's adjustment mechanism allows for up to five turns clockwise to increase the setting, with an installation torque requirement of 30-35 lbf·ft (41-47 Nm). Additionally, it includes specific hex sizes for adjustment screw and locknut, ensuring precise calibration and secure installation. The DPBBCBN weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg) and comes with Viton seals as part of its cartridge seal kit.

Normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
- Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
- This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
- When pilot pressure exceeds the valve setting, pilot flow may be a consideration. See performance curves for pilot consumption vs. load pressure above the valve setting. If this is a problem, the direct acting version of this valve would be a solution.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
