The Sun Hydraulics DPBBCDN (Material Number: DPBBCDN) is a normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This versatile component can be employed independently or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses the preset threshold. Notably, pressure at port 3 directly affects the valve's setting, which may limit its use as a work port in certain circuits; for such cases, a 4-port version could be more suitable. Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions are interchangeable with identical cavity and flow paths. This model is capable of modulating between two positions without being bistable. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a cavity size of T-11A and series 1 capacity, it supports up to 7 gpm (28 L/min) flow rate and operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The factory pressure settings are established at a flow rate of 4 gpm (15 L/min). Control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 in\u00b3/min (0.11 to 0.16 L/min), with maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) being limited to 1 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). The valve features an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm), allowing up to five full clockwise turns to increase the setting. Installation requires a torque range of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), with a locknut hex size of 9/16 inch (15 mm) torqued between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for cartridge sealing needs.

Normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
- Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
- This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
- When pilot pressure exceeds the valve setting, pilot flow may be a consideration. See performance curves for pilot consumption vs. load pressure above the valve setting. If this is a problem, the direct acting version of this valve would be a solution.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
