The Sun Hydraulics DPBBOAV (Material Number: DPBBOAV) is a normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. It can function independently or be used to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the set threshold. It is important to note that pressure at port 3 directly adds to the valve's setting, which may limit its use as a work port in certain circuits; a four-port version might be more suitable in such cases. This model is interchangeable with direct-acting versions as they share identical cavities and flow paths. However, it is not bistable and can modulate between two positions based on pilot pressure exceeding the set value. The valve features Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. This valve fits into cavity T-11A and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 7-10 in\u00b3/min (0.11-0.16 L/min), while maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 1 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). Adjustments can be made by turning clockwise up to five turns, using an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), with specific torque requirements for both installation and locknut adjustments. The model weighs approximately .60 lb (0.30 kg) and uses a Viton seal kit for cartridge sealing needs.

Normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • When pilot pressure exceeds the valve setting, pilot flow may be a consideration. See performance curves for pilot consumption vs. load pressure above the valve setting. If this is a problem, the direct acting version of this valve would be a solution.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
