The Sun Hydraulics DPBBOBV (DPBBOBV) is a normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. It is versatile in application, functioning either independently or in conjunction with larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses its set threshold. Notably, pressure at port 3 directly adds to the valve setting, which might limit its use as a work port in certain circuits; a four-port variant may be considered if this is a concern. This model can modulate between two positions and fits into the T-11A cavity, maintaining compatibility with both direct-acting and pilot-operated versions due to interchangeable design features. The DPBBOBV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize potential binding of internal components caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge interface. With a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), it can handle maximum operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 in\u00b3/min (0.11 to 0.16 L/min), while the maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 1 in\u00b3/min (15 cc/min). The valve allows for adjustment via clockwise turns, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments provided. This model weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg) and utilizes Viton seals, available under seal kit part number 990011006. Designed for precise modulation without bistability concerns, it offers an effective solution for applications requiring reliable switching under varying pressures within hydraulic systems.

Normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
- Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
- This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
- When pilot pressure exceeds the valve setting, pilot flow may be a consideration. See performance curves for pilot consumption vs. load pressure above the valve setting. If this is a problem, the direct acting version of this valve would be a solution.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
