The Sun Hydraulics DPBBODV (DPBBODV) is a robust, pilot-operated, normally closed 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. It is ideal for applications where switching devices are required and can be used independently or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds its set threshold, with pressure at port 3 being directly additive to the valve setting. This means port 3 may not always be suitable as a work port; in such cases, a 4-port version could be considered. The DPBBODV is capable of modulating between two positions and is not bistable. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. The valve fits into a T-11A cavity and belongs to Series 1, with a capacity of up to 7 gallons per minute (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gallons per minute (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 cubic inches per minute (0.11 to 0.16 L/min), while maximum valve leakage at standard conditions is limited to 1 cubic inch per minute at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). Adjustments can be made via an internal hex screw, with specifications including a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm) and installation torque between 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately .60 pounds (.30 kg), and it uses Viton seal kits for reliable sealing performance.

Normally closed, pilot-operated, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • When pilot pressure exceeds the valve setting, pilot flow may be a consideration. See performance curves for pilot consumption vs. load pressure above the valve setting. If this is a problem, the direct acting version of this valve would be a solution.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
