The Sun Hydraulics DRBBCWV (DRBBCWV) is a normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This versatile valve can be used independently or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. It shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the preset value, with pressure at port 3 being directly additive to the setting. Consequently, port 3 may not be suitable as a work port in certain circuits; however, a 4-port version of this valve could offer a solution if needed. The direct-acting design ensures low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption. Notably, direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable as they fit the same cavities and have identical flow paths. The DRBBCWV is capable of modulating between two positions rather than being bistable. Its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design to minimize the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. The valve fits into a T11A cavity and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Maximum valve leakage is rated at 2 in/min (30 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). Adjustments can be made by turning clockwise up to five turns to increase settings. Installation requires specific torque values: valve hex size is .78 in. (22.2 mm), installation torque ranges from 30 to 35 lbf ft (41 to 47 Nm), adjustment screw internal hex size is .532 in. (4 mm), locknut hex size is .916 in. (15 mm), and locknut torque ranges from 80 to 90 lbf in. (9 to 10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for maintenance needs.

Normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
- Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
- Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
- This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
