The Sun Hydraulics DRBBKDN (DRBBKDN) is a normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This versatile component can function independently or in conjunction with larger pilot-operated or logic cartridges. The valve transitions when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses a specified threshold, with pressure at port 3 directly contributing to this setting. Due to this characteristic, port 3 may not be suitable as a work port in certain circuits; in such cases, a four-port version might be more appropriate. The direct-acting design of the DRBBKDN ensures low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption. These valves are interchangeable with pilot-operated versions, sharing the same cavity dimensions and flow paths. The DRBBKDN is not bistable and can modulate between its two positions. It features Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve fits into a T-11A cavity, belongs to Series 1, and has a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and maximum valve leakage at 2 in³/min (30 cc/min). Adjustments can be made by turning clockwise up to five turns, using an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm), while installation requires a torque of 30–35 lbf ft (41–47 Nm). The model weighs .60 lb (.30 kg) and utilizes Viton seal kits for optimal performance.

Normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

• Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
• Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
• Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
• This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
