The Sun Hydraulics DRBDCBN (DRBDCBN) is a direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for use in moderate flow circuits. It operates by opening ports 1 to 2 while blocking port 3, shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the preset value. This valve is ideal for applications where low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption are essential, thanks to its direct-acting design. The DRBDCBN features Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity-cartridge interface. With a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve is suitable for high-pressure applications. Its factory pressure settings are established at a flow rate of 4 gpm (15 L/min). The valve's hex size measures 7/8 inch (22.2 mm), requiring an installation torque between 30 to 35 lbf ft (41 to 47 Nm). For adjustments, it has an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm) and requires up to five clockwise turns to increase settings. The locknut hex size is set at 9/16 inch (15 mm) with a torque specification of 80 to 90 lbf in (9 to 10 Nm). This model weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg) and comes with a Viton seal kit under part number 990011006. Notably, it is not bistable but can modulate between two positions as needed. Direct-acting versions like this one are interchangeable with pilot-operated variants, fitting the same cavities while offering different performance characteristics suited for specific hydraulic circuit requirements.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (1 to 2 open, 3 blocked) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
