The Sun Hydraulics DRBDODN (DRBDODN) is a direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This valve is particularly useful in applications where it functions independently or actuates larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses a pre-set threshold. Notably, pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve's setting, which may limit its use as a work port unless a four-port version is considered. The direct-acting design of the DRBDODN ensures low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption. It is interchangeable with pilot-operated versions, sharing the same cavities and flow paths. This model is not bistable and can modulate between two positions, incorporating Sun's floating style construction to reduce binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The valve fits into cavity T-11A and belongs to series 1 with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 2 in\u00b3/min (30 cc/min). The adjustment requires approximately five clockwise turns to increase the setting, with specific hex sizes for the valve (7/8 in.), adjustment screw (5/32 in.), and locknut (9/16 in.). Installation torque ranges from 30 to 35 lbf ft (41 to 47 Nm), while locknut torque is between 80 and 90 lbf in. (9 to 10 Nm). Weighing .60 lb (.30 kg), this model uses Viton seal kits for optimal performance.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (1 to 2 open, 3 blocked) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
