The Sun Hydraulics DRBDOSN (DRBDOSN) is a direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits, offering versatility in hydraulic applications. This valve operates with ports 1 to 2 open and port 3 blocked, shifting when the pressure differential between ports 1 and 3 exceeds the preset threshold. Notably, any pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting, which may limit its use as a work port in some circuits; a four-port version could be considered if this poses an issue. Its direct-acting design ensures low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption, making it an efficient choice for various hydraulic systems. The DRBDOSN can be used independently or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. It features Sun's floating style construction to reduce the likelihood of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This model fits into cavity T-11A and belongs to series 1, with a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at a flow rate of 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve exhibits maximum leakage of just 2 in\u00b3/min (30 cc/min) at fluid viscosity of 110 SUS (24 cSt). For adjustments, the setting can be increased by turning clockwise up to five turns, utilizing an internal hex size adjustment screw measuring 5/32 inches (4 mm). The installation requires a torque between 30 - 35 lbf\u00b7ft (41 - 47 Nm), and it weighs approximately .60 lb (.30 kg). The seal kit for this cartridge utilizes Viton material.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (1 to 2 open, 3 blocked) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
