The Sun Hydraulics DRBNCBN (DRBNCBN) is a direct-acting, normally closed, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. It is versatile in application, being suitable for use alone or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. This valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 4 surpasses a specified setting. Port 3 can function as a work port, and the flow path between ports 2 and 3 is bidirectional. Due to its direct-acting design, the valve offers low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption. It is interchangeable with pilot-operated versions, fitting into the same cavities with identical flow paths. The DRBNCBN features Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. It is capable of modulating between two positions but is not bistable. The maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar) due to fatigue strength limits rather than hydraulic operating limits. The valve's capacity is rated at 7 gpm (28 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min).
