The Sun Hydraulics DRBNLDN (Material Number: DRBNLDN) is a normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This valve can function independently or be used to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. It operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 4 exceeds the set threshold. Port 3 serves as a work port, with a bidirectional flow path between ports 2 and 3. Thanks to its direct-acting design, this cartridge valve boasts low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption. It is interchangeable with pilot-operated versions, fitting the same cavities and sharing identical flow paths. The DRBNLDN model features Sun's floating style construction that minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. It is not bistable but can modulate between two positions as shown in its specifications. The maximum pressure at port 3 is limited to 3000 psi (210 bar) due to fatigue strength limits, not hydraulic operating limits. The valve fits into cavity T-21A and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at a flow of 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve allows for adjustment through clockwise turns, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments. This versatile component is suitable for applications where precise control over fluid direction is needed without significant pilot flow increase, making it ideal for circuits requiring fast response, dirt tolerance, stability, and robustness in operation.

Normally closed, direct-acting, 2-way directional cartridges are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 4 exceeds the setting.

  • Port 3 can be used as a work port.
  • The flow path between port 2 and port 3 is bidirectional.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • Direct-acting and pilot-operated versions of these valves are interchangeable. They fit the same cavities and have the same flow paths.
  • Pressure at port 4 is directly additive to the setting of the valve.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar). This is due to fatigue strength limits not hydraulic operating limits.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
