The Sun Hydraulics DRBRCNV (DRBRCNV) is a versatile direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This component is typically employed either independently or to activate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 4 surpasses the set threshold, with a maximum setting of 800 psi (55 bar). It is important to note that the maximum pressure at port 3 should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar) due to fatigue strength limitations, although this does not impact hydraulic operating limits. The flow path between port 2 and port 3 is bidirectional, enhancing its adaptability in various applications. Thanks to its direct-acting design, the DRBRCNV cartridge valve features low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption, making it an efficient choice for many hydraulic systems. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. It has a capacity of 7 gallons per minute (28 liters per minute) and can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Valve leakage is minimal, with a maximum of 2 cubic inches per minute (30 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The DRBRCNV model allows for adjustment through clockwise turns to increase settings, providing flexibility in operation. Installation requires a torque of 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm), with a locknut torque specification of 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). Additionally, this model uses Viton seals for reliable performance in demanding environments.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (3 to 4 open, 2 blocked) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 4 exceeds the setting.

  • Note: 800 psi (55 bar) is the highest setting possible with this valve.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar). This is due to fatigue strength limits not hydraulic operating limits.
  • The flow path between port 2 and port 3 is bidirectional.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
