The Sun Hydraulics DSCBXFV (DSCBXFV) is a direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This valve features one blocked port and an open connection between ports 2 and 3, making it suitable for switching applications. It can be used independently or to control larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. The valve operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 surpasses the set threshold. It is important to note that pressure at port 3 directly adds to the valve setting, which may limit its use as a work port in certain circuits; a four-port version might be necessary in such cases. The DSCBXFV is engineered with a direct-acting design, ensuring low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption. It is not bistable but can modulate between two positions, offering flexibility in operation. The maximum pressure at port 3 should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar) due to fatigue strength limitations rather than hydraulic operating constraints. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. This cartridge fits into a T-11A cavity and belongs to series 1 with a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The valve has a hex size of 7/8 inch (22.2 mm) and requires an installation torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). For sealing purposes, it uses Viton seal kits, specifically part number 990011006.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (1 blocked, 2 to 3 open) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar). This is due to fatigue strength limits not hydraulic operating limits.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
