The Sun Hydraulics DSCBXHV (DSCBXHV) is a direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridge valve designed for moderate flow circuits. This valve is primarily used as a switching device and can function independently or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional or logic cartridges. It operates by shifting when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds its setting, with pressure at port 3 being directly additive to the valve's setting. Notably, port 3 may not always be suitable as a work port due to this characteristic; in such cases, a 4-port version might be preferable. The DSCBXHV features low internal leakage and minimal pilot flow consumption due to its direct-acting design. It is capable of modulating between two positions but is not bistable. The maximum allowable pressure at port 3 should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar) because of fatigue strength limitations rather than hydraulic operational limits. The valve incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model uses a T-11A cavity and belongs to series 1, with a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The recommended installation torque for the valve is between 30 to 35 lbf\u00b7ft (41 to 47 Nm), and it requires a Viton seal kit with part number 990011006 for maintenance purposes.

Direct-acting, 3-way directional cartridges (1 blocked, 2 to 3 open) are switching devices typically used in moderate flow circuits. They can be used by themselves or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic cartridges. The valve shifts when the pressure differential between port 1 and port 3 exceeds the setting.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the setting of the valve. Because of this, port 3 may not be useable as a work port in your circuit. If this is a consideration, the 4 port version of this valve may be a solution.
  • Because of their direct-acting design, these cartridges feature low internal leakage and low pilot flow consumption.
  • This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar). This is due to fatigue strength limits not hydraulic operating limits.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
