The Sun Hydraulics DSCHXGN (DSCHXGN) is a lowside hot oil shuttle cartridge designed to efficiently divert hot oil from the low-pressure side of a closed-loop hydraulic system. This valve operates by spring-centering to an all-ports-blocked position when work ports 2 and 4 are at equal pressures. When either port 2 or 4 experiences higher pressure, the opposite work port connects to the common port, port 3. The spool features a hydraulic stop, eliminating mechanical impact and reducing the risk of internal damage, while allowing a small pilot flow from the high-pressure side work port to the common port. A notable feature due to this hydraulic stop is that users can confirm the hot oil relief setting with the transmission in neutral. Care should be taken with low shift values as they may inadvertently shift the valve due to charge pump pressure alone. Although this valve fits into a 4-port cavity, it does not utilize nose port 1. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge manufacturing. Key specifications include a T-31A cavity, Series 1 classification, and a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). Low-side (hot oil) shuttle cartridges allow hot oil to be diverted from the low pressure side of a closed loop system. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure the opposite work port is connected to the common port (port 3).
