The Sun Hydraulics DSCLXEV (DSCLXEV) is a lowside hot oil shuttle cartridge designed to divert hot oil from the low-pressure side of a closed-loop hydraulic system. This component is engineered to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a flow capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min). The valve is constructed with Sun's floating style design, which minimizes the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. It features a T-31A cavity and requires an installation torque between 30 and 35 lbf-ft (41 to 47 Nm). The valve's hex size measures at 7/8 inch (22.2 mm), and it weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg). When both work ports, ports 2 and 4, are at equal pressures, the DSCLXEV centers itself to an all-ports-blocked position. If one work port experiences higher pressure, the opposite port connects to the common port, port 3. Notably, this valve does not utilize nose port 1 and lacks a hydraulic stop, meaning it has no pilot flow—a factor that should be considered for circuits that cannot tolerate additional leakage. Users should exercise caution when selecting shift pressure due to potential low shift values that might inadvertently cause the valve to shift with charge pump pressure alone. The DSCLXEV is ideal for applications requiring reliable control over oil diversion in hydraulic systems while maintaining minimal leakage rates—1 in³/min at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). A Viton seal kit is available under part number 990031006 for maintenance needs.

Low-side (hot oil) shuttle cartridges allow hot oil to be diverted from the low pressure side of a closed loop system. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure the opposite work port is connected to the common port (port 3).
- NOTE: Low shift values can potentially result in charge pump pressure alone inadvertently shifting the valve. Use care when selecting shift pressure.
- Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
- This valve does not have a hydraulic stop and therefore has no pilot flow. Some circuits other than hydrostatic transmissions cannot tolerate the added leakage.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
