The Sun Hydraulics DSCLXFV (DSCLXFV) is a lowside hot oil shuttle cartridge designed to efficiently redirect hot oil from the low-pressure side of closed loop systems. It is engineered to spring-center to an all-ports-blocked position when both work ports, 2 and 4, are at equal pressures. If one work port experiences higher pressure, the valve connects the opposing work port to the common port, port 3. Notably, this valve fits into a four-port cavity (T-31A), but the nose port (port 1) remains unused. Without a hydraulic stop, it produces no pilot flow, which may not be suitable for certain circuits beyond hydrostatic transmissions due to potential leakage concerns. This cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to mitigate internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge configurations. It has a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The maximum valve leakage is rated at 1 in/min at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). The valve features a hex size of 7/8 in. (22.2 mm) and requires an installation torque between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm). Weighing approximately .40 lb (.20 kg), it comes with an optional Viton seal kit under part number 990031006. The DSCLXFV is particularly noted for its direct acting nature, making it ideal for preventing overpressure situations with rapid response times and high dirt tolerance. This robust component offers stability and reliability across various applications where controlling hot oil flow is crucial.

Low-side (hot oil) shuttle cartridges allow hot oil to be diverted from the low pressure side of a closed loop system. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure the opposite work port is connected to the common port (port 3).
- NOTE: Low shift values can potentially result in charge pump pressure alone inadvertently shifting the valve. Use care when selecting shift pressure.
- Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
- This valve does not have a hydraulic stop and therefore has no pilot flow. Some circuits other than hydrostatic transmissions cannot tolerate the added leakage.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
