The Sun Hydraulics DSCSXFN (DSCSXFN) is a highside shuttle cartridge designed primarily for full-time regeneration circuits. This component is engineered to balance pressures between work ports 2 and 4, automatically spring-centering to an all-ports-blocked position when pressures are equal. When a higher pressure is detected at either port 2 or 4, it connects to the common port, port 3, effectively providing overrunning load control in situations where the load extends the cylinder. Despite its capabilities, spool leakage means it does not prevent drift entirely. The valve features hardened spool-sleeve construction, which enhances wear resistance and minimizes cross-leakage. It fits into a 4-port cavity but does not utilize the nose port (port 1), and incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The DSCSXFN has a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and can operate at maximum pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It exhibits maximum valve leakage of 2 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). The hex size for the valve is .78 inches (22.2 mm), with an installation torque requirement of 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). Weighing .40 lb (.20 kg), it uses Viton seals with part number 990031006 for maintenance needs.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).

  • This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
  • Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
  • Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
