The Sun Hydraulics DSCSXGV (DSCSXGV) is a highside shuttle cartridge valve primarily utilized in full-time regeneration circuits. This valve is designed to manage overrunning load control in regeneration applications, especially where the load tends to extend the cylinder. It features a unique ability to connect the higher pressure work port, either port 2 or 4, to the common port 3 when both work ports are at equal pressures, allowing it to spring-center to an all-ports-blocked position. Notably, this model does not prevent drift due to spool leakage. The hardened spool-sleeve construction ensures excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage, enhancing durability and reliability. Despite being designed for a 4-port cavity, the nose port 1 remains unused. This valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which reduces the likelihood of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. With a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it offers robust performance for demanding applications. The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 2 in/min (1000 psi) or 30 cc/min (70 bar). The DSCSXGV model has a hex size of 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) and should be installed with a torque between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm). Weighing approximately .40 lb (.20 kg), it is lightweight yet effective for its intended purpose. For maintenance or replacements, a Viton seal kit is available under part number 990031006.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).
- This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
- Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
- Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
