The Sun Hydraulics DSESXCN (DSESXCN) is a highside shuttle cartridge valve designed primarily for full-time regeneration circuits. This valve efficiently manages overrunning load control in applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder, although it does not prevent drift due to spool leakage. The construction features hardened spool and sleeve components, offering excellent wear resistance and minimizing cross leakage. Notably, this model incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which reduces the risk of internal parts binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. The DSESXCN fits into a T-32A cavity and belongs to series 2, with a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Despite having a four-port cavity design, the nose port (port 1) is not utilized in this configuration. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures, the valve spring-centers to an all-ports-blocked position; however, when one work port experiences higher pressure than the other, it connects to the common port (port 3). The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 3 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (50 cc/min at 70 bar), ensuring minimal fluid loss during operation. Installation requires a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) with an installation torque between 45 - 50 lbf-ft (61 - 68 Nm). The model weighs approximately .70 lb (.30 kg), and for maintenance or repairs, a Viton seal kit is available under part number 990-032-006.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).

  • This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
  • Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
  • Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
