The Sun Hydraulics DSESXEV (DSESXEV) is a highside shuttle cartridge valve designed primarily for use in full-time regeneration circuits. This valve is engineered to manage overrunning load control in regeneration applications, particularly where the load tends to extend the cylinder. It features a spool that centers to an all-ports-blocked position when work ports 2 and 4 are at equal pressures. When one of these ports experiences higher pressure, it connects to the common port 3. The valve's hardened spool and sleeve construction ensure excellent wear characteristics and minimize cross-leakage, although it does not prevent drift due to spool leakage. The DSESXEV fits into a T-32A cavity despite being a 4-port design, with the nose port 1 remaining unused. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity or cartridge. The valve boasts a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min) and can operate at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has a maximum leakage rate of 3 in\u00b3/min (1000 psi) or approximately 50 cc/min (70 bar) at an oil viscosity of 110 SUS (24 cSt). The hex size for this model is 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm), and it requires an installation torque between 45 - 50 lbf ft (61 - 68 Nm). Weighing .70 lb (.30 kg), this model comes with a Viton seal kit, part number 990032006, ensuring reliable sealing performance under various operating conditions.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).

  • This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
  • Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
  • Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
