The Sun Hydraulics DSGSXEN (DSGSXEN) is a highside shuttle cartridge valve designed for use in full-time regeneration circuits. This valve is engineered to manage overrunning load control in applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder, making it ideal for systems that require precise control of hydraulic flow. It features hardened spool and sleeve construction, which ensures excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage. The valve's design incorporates Sun's floating style construction, reducing the likelihood of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The DSGSXEN operates within a T-33A cavity and belongs to Series 3, with a capacity of handling up to 60 gallons per minute (240 liters per minute) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Despite being installed in a 4-port cavity, the nose port (port 1) remains unused. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures, the valve centers itself to an all-ports-blocked position; however, if one work port experiences higher pressure, it connects to the common port (port 3). This mechanism allows for effective load control but does not prevent drift due to spool leakage. The valve has a hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and requires an installation torque between 150 - 160 lbf-ft (203 - 217 Nm). It weighs approximately 1.40 lb (0.65 kg) and uses Viton seal kits with part number 990033006 for maintenance or replacement needs. The DSGSXEN's robust design makes it suitable for demanding hydraulic applications requiring reliable performance under high-pressure conditions.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).

  • This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
  • Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
  • Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
