The Sun Hydraulics DSGSXEV (DSGSXEV) is a highside shuttle cartridge specifically designed for full-time regeneration circuits. This valve is engineered to manage overrunning load control in applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder, making it ideal for use in systems that require precise control over hydraulic flow. It features a unique design where, when both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures, the valve remains spring-centered in an all-ports-blocked position. However, when one of these work ports sees higher pressure, it connects to the common port (port 3), allowing for efficient hydraulic management. The DSGSXEV is constructed with hardened spool/sleeve components, ensuring excellent wear resistance and minimal cross leakage over time. Although designed to fit into a four-port cavity, the nose port (port 1) is not utilized in this model. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. Additional specifications include a T-33A cavity size and a series 3 classification. It has a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min) and can operate under maximum pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's maximum leakage rate at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 4 in/min (1000 psi) or 65 cc/min (70 bar). For installation, it requires a hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) and an installation torque between 150 - 160 lbf-ft (203 - 217 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.40 lb (0.65 kg), and Viton seal kits are available under part number 990033006 for maintenance purposes.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).

  • This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
  • Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
  • Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
